A fanatical Muslim group campaigning to impose sharia law on Britain wants to turn Buckingham Palace into a mosque, it was revealed last night.Read it all here.Days before a potentially incendiary rally in central London, the hardline Islam4UK group claims to have uncovered historical evidence which challenges the right of the Queen to live at the royal property.
Notorious hate preacher Anjem Choudary is calling for the palace to be renamed Buckingham Masjid, the Arabic word for mosque.
The Mall, which approaches the palace, would become Masjid Road.
Choudary, the right-hand man of exiled cleric Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed, spoke out as he urged Muslims across Britain to join Saturday’s rally to demand a complete overhaul of the British legal system and the introduction of sharia courts.
The protest is due to begin at 1pm outside the Houses of Parliament and end at Trafalgar Square, less than a mile from Buckingham Palace, raising concerns over security.
Last night angry politicians and fellow Muslims condemned Choudary’s comments.
Tory MP Philip Davies compared Choudary to the leader of the BNP, saying: “This man’s a complete idiot. He’s the Muslim equivalent to Nick Griffin. I’m all for free speech and people having the right to have their say but, equally, there are all these ridiculous laws the Government has introduced about inciting racial hatred. Quite clearly, that’s what he is doing.
“If these laws are in place, they have to work both ways – they can’t apply to just one group of people.”
In a rambling diatribe, Choudary wrote on the Islam4UK website: “There is a spark that has ignited and its flame has become unstoppable.
“In recent years the world has witnessed an Islamic resurgence which continues to grow in strength.
“We find ourselves in the year 2009, waiting for Rome to fall, waiting for the White House to fall and indeed waiting for Buckingham Palace to fall.”
Choudary said that under sharia law the Queen’s official residence in London would have a dome fitted and a tannoy system to call followers to prayer.
The Palace would be used as a judiciary court for handing down sharia punishments and a detention place for “prisoners of war”.
In addition, the building would become the headquarters of the Islamic States’ supreme leadership and the Department of Information and Culture....

There should be a rational discussion over the merits and demerits of Sharia.Sharia protects a womman and gives her security and dignity and self respect. England has the distinction of having the worlds highest number of teenage pregnancies. Would this have happened if Britain was under Sharia? Then english girls would be modestly covered in burquas and this would have kept teenage lust in check.
Anonymous,
Shariah law is incompatible with Western values. Girls who cover the faces have also been raped or become pregnant, therefore your argument is unfounded. Under shariah, premarital sex is punishable by death. We do not want such barbarism in our secular, western societies.
If you want shariah law, go live in a Muslim country rather than try to convert others to your religion and oppressive beliefs. Shariah law is anti-humane, anti-woman, anti-gay and anti-individual values.
Not only is shariah law incompatible with Western Values in a secular sense, but is incompatible as far as dictating the religion of an individual.
ANY religion/belief system/value set that denigrates the value of women and gives men sole power over them should be discarded. I do not and never will understand the women who CHOOSE to worship under those circumstances. Please notice I said CHOOSE. In my opinion it is only weak, cowardly men that feel they must treat women as chattel. Weak, cowardly men that try to deprive women of the right to live life in freedom and openess. Weak cowardly men who advocate for the death of people who do not believe or live as they do. I have no use for weak, cowardly men and would not even listen to their words, EXCEPT for the harm they cause. THAT must be stopped.
Stopped through education, of women AND men. Removing children from the toxic influence of these cowardly imam's that send children to their death and yet do not risk THEIR lives for what they say they believe. By speaking out strongly, loudly against all that they represent. By doing what is necessary to reach women under this barbaric influence and show them another way. A way of freedom. A way of choice.
And yes, if necessary, we pick up weapons and fight. We fight for ourselves, our daughters, our sisters, and our friends. We fight for those women who cannot fight for themselves and we fight for the women who have not yet been born. This hateful, barbaric, evil oppression should not be allowed to poison another generation of our children.
It won't be an easy war. And, make no mistake, it IS a war. But then, freedom is not given and has never been easily won. Freedom has, however, always been worth the battle.
Thank you for your carefully thought out comment, anonymous.
There are many women and religious minorities in the Middle East and Asia who feel as you do but are so horribly oppressed, that they are stifled and cannot do anything to remedy their situations.
Fighting for individual values and against religious theocracies, as you say, is moral and right. We are in agreement with you.
Best regards,
